5 Luxury Hotels and a Lifestyle Mall to rise at The Mactan Newtown

In 2018, 5 Luxury Hotels will rise at The Mactan Newtown: 2 of them will be high-rise hotels, Mactan Belmont Luxury Hotel and The Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown; another 2 will be beachfront hotels in the formerly Portofino Beast Resort area facing the Hilutungan Channel and Olango Island and lastly an International Brand luxury hotel is also expected to rise in the township.
The Mactan Newtown will build a 3-level Lifestyle Mall "Plaza Magellan" in 2016 with an iconic entrance plaza facing the famous Liberty Shrine. The mall’s design will be inspired by the hilltop towns of Portugal and Spain, The architecture will feature courtyards and arcaded walkways, ornately framed doors and windows as well as cupolas and towers. Mall's main feature will be a life-sized Spanish Galleon Victoria replica and a Magellan museum. Spanish Steps will also lead visitors to the mall’s main entrance.

The Mactan Newtown will also be building a Hawkers’ Gazebo near the main entrance of the township. It will be covered food strip similar to the famous hawkers of Singapore. The Learn Aspect at The Mactan Newtown will be realized bu opening the Newtown School of Excellence in 2016 supervised by the Lasallian Schools Supervision Office (LASSO).“We envision The Mactan Newtown as a major tourism hub of Cebu. The township is designed to be tourist-friendly, and our various offerings will also cater to the needs of the visitors of the island,” said by Megaworld Cebu Properties, Inc. President, Noli D. Mr. Hernandez, commits to help the government in the rehabilitation and improvement of the historic Liberty Shrine, the site where the historic Battle of Mactan between LapuLapu and Ferdinand Magellan happened circa April 27, 1521.

To date, The Mactan Newtown has 10 luxury condominium towers that includes: 4 towers for 8 Newtown Boulevard with expected completion by 1H2015; 3 towers for One Pacific Residence; and 3 towers for One Manchester Place. The Mactan Newtown residential towers offer pre-furnished units with magnificent views of the Hilutungan Channel on the east and the historic Magellan Bay on the north. The Mactan Newtown office spaces can accommodate an estimated 45,000 workers in the Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) sector.
