Cebu's Next Big Attraction: The Mactan Newtown Beach Walk!

In 2021, the first of its kind in Cebu, a Lifestyle Mall in a 1.4-hectare man-made lagoon at the center and will be called "The Mactan Newtown Beach Walk". This recent announcement from Megaworld Corporation will be the new icon at their 30-hectare property The Mactan Newtown development in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. In a nutshell, its a new mall on a shoreline cliff to be highlighted by a man-made lagoon, boutique hotel, garden chapel, beach walk, and rows of retail shops & restaurants including four cinemas.

The 'beach mall' will have a total floor area of 30,000 square meters, with a 1.4-hectare man-made lagoon at the heart of it. The lagoon will have floating boardwalks and a bridge that will connect both sides of the mall. Its max depth of around 1.5-meters can also cater water sports activities such as jet ski, wake boarding, stand-up paddling, and boating. This Megaworld Lifestyle Malls managed property will also have its own chapel that will be surrounded by a garden by the Cliffside overlooking the sea. The man-made shoreline at its perimeter will be every tourist and Cebuanos picture perfect partner sooner!
For people who just like to keep dry and with only malling intention, the beach walk will also have four state-of-the-art cinemas, a Food Hail, Al fresco areas, Traveler’s Lounge, and a view deck with a panoramic view of the sea and nearby islands. Staycations will be made more styled with its three-storey boutique hotel, offering 48 spacious guestrooms with retail shops at its ground level operated under the Megaworld Hotels brand.
Megaworld Chief Strategy Officer Kevin L. Tan said Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is bringing a fresh, new concept of mall development in Cebu that recreates and innovates the beach lifestyle experience. The property giant take inspiration from some iconic coastline commercial developments in South California, where visitors can enjoy coffee, meet friends over lunch or dinner, watch a movie, or simply shop around in this laid-back beach atmosphere.
The development will have its own share of sustainability, the malls roofing will be laid with solar roof panels, and will utilize an open layout scheme for passive cooling and natural lighting in most of the development’s common areas. 40% of the entire development will be dedicated to green and open spaces. Tan added that there will be some untouched areas for bike trails, airsoft shooting, and tree-top activities. It's the part of the Mactan Newtown with abundant surrounding trees that they will keep intact.
